چکیده

We conducted an AX-discrimination task to test for differences in perceived auditory similarity in monozygotic (MZ) and dizygotic (DZ) twin pairs and unrelated speakers. In addition, we performed acoustic analyses to find acoustic correlates that explain the differences in perceived similarity. Results indicate that unrelated speakers are significantly easier to distinguish than twins, but zygosity has no effect on perceived similarity. Moreover, pair-specific auditory similarity appears in twins and unrelated speakers and can be explained by the acoustic parameters F0, shimmer, jitter and HNR.

Evaluating the forensic importance of glottal source features through the voice analysis of twins and non-twin siblings

In this study we have analyzed 853 tokens of the vowel ller [e:], extracted from spontaneous speech fragments of 54 male Spanish speakers (NorthCentral Peninsular variety), each one recorded on two separate sessions. The speakers — to be compared in a pairwise fashion – were divided in four groups: 24 monozygotic (MZ) twins, 10 dizygotic (DZ) twins, 8 non-twin brothers and 12 unrelated speakers...

Subjective Evaluations for Percept Through Acoustic Feature T

Perception of speaker identity is an important characteristic of the human auditory system. This paper describes a subjective test for the investigation of the relevance of four acoustic features in this process: vocal tract, pitch, duration, and energy. PSOLA based methods provide the framework for the transplantations of these acoustic features between two speakers. The test database consists...

Objectives: The result of auditory brainstem response is used worldwide for detecting hearing impairments or hearing aids. This study aimed to introduce the superiority of mathematical innovation algorithm toward subjective evaluation by an audiologist. The automatic algorithm method is encouraged for detecting the waves of Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR), because it can reduce subjective eva...

Some Acoustic Correlates of Perceived (Dis)Similarity between Same-accent Voices

Subjects rated the (dis)similarity of paired voice samples on a nine-point scale. The short voice samples were taken from the DyViS database of young male speakers with ‘Standard Southern British’ pronunciation. Accent was thus controlled, and ratings can be presumed to tap perceived personal voice quality differences. Multidimensional scaling (MDS) was applied to the ratings to derive five pse...
